BioTech Industries
From An Evolution in RP :: Database

BioTech Industries produces some of the finest cyborg technologies for use in many applications in the galaxy. Fast becoming the industry leaders in cyborg technology, BioTech Industries expanded its production line to include medical supplies and equipment, including first-aid packages and medpacks. Surpassing industry standards and earning the highest ratings possible, BioTech Industries is expected to be among the top five of the galaxy's Fortune 500 companies within the next five years, and is expected to exceed Chiewab Amalgamated Pharmaceuticals Company and Athakam MedTech in total sales volume within the next decade.
Biotechnology researchers expand the boundaries of science to benefit mankind by providing better health care, enhanced cyborg technology, and a cleaner and safer environment. The mission of BioTech Industries is to be the champion of biotechnology and the advocate for its member organizations both large and small.
On the cutting edge of cyborg technology, BioTech Industries has begun production on a cybernetic implant, the Borg Construct Aj^6. The Aj^6 is a sophisticated cyborg construct that allows a being to become a cybernetic computer interface liaison able to mentally control computer systems. The device is implanted against the skull, and sends nanothreads into the brain to form a link between the biocomputer unit and the cyborg. The Aj^6's cyborg computer will noticeably improve the intelligence of the wearer, enhancing logic and reasoning capabilities. The cyborg can also analyze data at roughly twenty times the speed of a non-cyborg computer operator.
The Aj^6's internal computer stores vast amounts of data, though additional information can be accrued with the use of knowledge cartridges. These devices plug into ports on the back of the Borg Construct, and hold data on virtually any subject. This allows cyborgs to load and process data as and when needed.

A medpac or medkit is a small first aid kit that contains limited-utility diagnosis equipment, syntheflesh, bacta, kolto, spray-bandages, antiseptics, coagulants, stimulants, and other essential medicines for the treatment of wounds. They are standard-issue for military organizations and are the standard method of treating minor injuries or providing crisis care in the civilized portions of the galaxy.
A medkit is equivalent to about 10 medpacs crammed into one box and can also contain some provisions for field surgery. Although a medkit is better equipped than a basic medpac, it is bulky and not as easy to carry around.
Another application of BioTech Industries cyborg technologies comes in the form of mechanical synthflesh/synthskin prosthetics, provided the application falls under at least one of three specific criteria:
- Life support, often due to injuries sustained.
- Replacements for parts that were lost, though they may not be required for life itself.
- To enhance one's abilities.
Type: Advanced Medpac
Cost: 500 credits
Size: Handheld
RFX/K Medisensor - The RFX/K Medisensor is a short-ranged Medisensor that is often carried by military doctors. It is small and can be carried in a pocket or on a belt clip. The Medisensor has a scanner to detect the patient's injury or illness with a keyboard used to input data or to access diagnostic programs. The low memory capacity means it can only be used for up to five scans. It links to a full medical computer via comlink/data transfer module.
Cost: 10,000 credits
Replacement Memory: 500 credits
Swift 78B Vessel Courier System - Pending.
Repli-Limb Prosthetic Replacements - Pending.
- Chromostring - A drug, patented by BioTech Industries, that allows for deeper penetration of medicines into a patient's body without causing nerve damage.
Neuro-Shock Hand - This cybernetic prosthesis from BioTech is more of a weapon than a bionic limb. The hand is equipped with a series of repulsor-field generators connected to a neuro-trigger in the palm. When the hand is jabbed at a target and makes contact, a full-force repulsorfield is generated from the hand, inflicting damage to the target. This action is continually active, so someone with the Neuro-shock Hand will cause pain and damage even if they accidentally run into someone.

The BioTech Industries Board of Directors information will be added to as each Board Member's persona is created. NPC character names marked with double asterisks (**) indicate that the NPC character may be picked up by a registered member in good standing with the community and active for 3 months. Further information may be obtained by contacting Jayse Drykin at the Evolution forum by sending him a private message. NPC Characters that are not marked by a set of asteriks (**) are not available for portrayal.
