mecrosa_history.jpg

The Mecrosa Order was formed shortly before the fall of the Republic and consists primarily of ex-military/SpecOps from the Republic military. These men are loyal to their leader and each other before all else, and their main mission is to see the Restoration of the old Republic. Anything that they can conceivably do to put a crimp in the activities of the Empire is suitable for them, though they are extremely choosy in what they engage in. Many things are smaller-scale, oft times assassinations or acquisitions.

When the change in regime seemed to be looming on the horizon, Drake Ivaldi, at the time a Major in the Republic Special Ops Division, began to gather amongst him those men of a like mind. Most of them had served the Republic for years, and all were in agreement that the changes that were to come would not be what they had sworn and bled to protect. When the time came, all of them put in for early retirement and were granted them for their service, which included full pensions that they collectively squirreled away and put towards the formation of a group, though it wasn't fully formed until a bit later.

Drake, Ian, Vlad, Darik, and Sam (not their birth names) arranged their own deaths; each occurring within an eight year period after their honorable retirements from the military. During the arrangement period, the men established a small dummy company that was listed as the sole heir to their life insurance, assets, and personal items of worth. This dummy company, along with its bank account, helped to bankroll the foundations of the Mecrosa Order.

Their deaths were nothing spectacular. 'Drake' was killed during a liquor store robbery. 'Ian' died when his personal boat encountered a hurricane and his body was declared lost at sea. 'Vlad' was killed while participating in an underground fight-to-the-death shock boxing match. 'Darik' passed peacefully in his sleep after a long battle against a lung disease. 'Sam' was killed while engaged in his favorite hobby - swoop racing. It was one of the most horrific accidents to occur on the swoop circuit in nearly two decades.

Several others had been contacted as well, either those that had already retired or those that had at one time been with the Republic military and had left for one reason or another. Drake personally recruited Stefan upon his return to Nar Shaddaa to join the crew, having met the man when he was younger during his first year at the Academy.

Over the past couple of years, the group has continued to shore up supply, adding to the supplies that had been siphoned off during official operations, though none of the items were things that would have been missed. Much of the time they merely confiscated equipment from the dead, as morbid as it was. In all, though, they kept the equipment and weaponry in assorted safe houses across the Outer Rim before deciding on using Nar Shaddaa as a main base of operations.

With the location of the moon as their home, they have been able to open up communication and trade avenues with assorted seedier groups including the Hutts. The relationship of that is more of a trade of information for services, but there are other instances of trade. The Mecrosa Order does not have contact with the Rebellion nor are they officially a Rebel cell. They do oppose the Empire, but not openly, preferring to sabotage rather than blatantly attack. The Mecrosa Order also opposes The Exchange on Nar Shaddaa, though that is partially necessitated by their relations with the Hutts and part of the services required for the secrecy of the Hutts regarding the Mecrosa presence.

Republic Special Operations, or SpecOps, was a military organization that functioned as its own entity, although it was funded by the government and they were answerable to the highest ranking members of the Republic Senate. Only the most capable of military recruits were assigned to SpecOps (and SpecForces). There were two levels of operation: Mission Groups and Special Ops Teams. Both were categorized by personnel that were exceedingly skilled, talented, and prone to cockiness.

mecrosa_mg.jpg

    • Mission Groups were the basic unit of SpecOps, with a nebulous position within the Republic hierarchy. They "floated" between military command, standard forces, and sector forces, capable of being "loaned" to the latter if needed but typically operating on a galaxy-wide level to perform their duties. Individual Mission Groups were often headquartered on Republic starfighter bases, such as those at Tierfon, Cathis, Ansarra, and Dalastine, allowing them to refuel and resupply their galaxy-trotting starships (often light freighters of some sort) without interference; in return, the base got the often exceptional piloting abilities of the SpecOps personnel. This was not the only possible arrangement, however; some Mission Groups worked as roving agents, changing their base of operations as circumstances demanded. Yet other Groups were attached to Ordnance and Supply and Support Services.
    • Though some missions they performed were similar to those of Republic Intelligence, the patience and discipline often required by Intelligence operations tended to be the weak link among the cocky, energetic natures of typical SpecOps personnel. In fact, Mission Groups were often sent to worlds in which the cover of existing Intelligence operations were endangered to draw attention away from them. However, despite this, Mission Groups were sometimes attached to Republic Intelligence's Operations department.
  • mecrosa_sot.jpg
    • These teams were "advanced Mission Groups" that had been cut off from the Republic's command structure, answerable to only the highest echelons of the Republic military and receiving no support from other branches. Extremely capable, they rarely needed such assistance; since they were authorized to act in the interests of the Republic without orders from higher up the chain of command, when they were needed by a sector intelligence cell or Republic outpost, they received polite requests rather than actual orders. Mostly, they developed and executed their own operations on behalf of the Republic without prompting.
    • Some Special Ops Teams engaged in deep-cover missions, tapping into existing supply caches when necessary; just as often, they established their own network of supply caches, often as a prelude to establishing new intelligence cells or Republic outposts in a new sector. Others roamed freely, doing that which they saw as needing doing. For the most part, the Republic, the Senate, and the Jedi Order allowed these teams to wreak havoc upon the enemies without supervision. In the uncommon cases where contact needed to be made, the Republic's military base of operations could rely on mail drops, contacts, and even personal ads to get messages to Special Ops Teams in the field.

mecrosa_specopsspecforc.jpg

Though bearing similar names, Special Operations and Republic Special Forces were two completely different groups. While Special Forces (SpecForce) were highly trained active military professionals, tasked with performing specific, carefully planned operations, Special Ops agents engaged in murky undercover missions and chaotic, unplanned operations with only minimal input from Republic Military Command. Though SpecForce personnel recognized the need for SpecOps, and vice versa, rivalry between the two groups ran deep; SpecOps personnel viewed SpecForces as arrogant, uptight, and over-trained, and SpecForce personnel viewed SpecOps (or "spooks," as they liked to call them) as amateurs who relied on luck to carry the day. The SpecOps had special status within the Republic, which also meant that they had special privileges. For example, medical frigates would often reserve entire wards for SpecOps personnel.

SpecForces sometimes used Mission Group personnel as "other specialists" such as transportation specs, pilots, communication experts, translators, medical technicians, supply specialists, and so on. Such personnel were often referred to as "recovering spooks" by the SpecForce units they were attached to.

Conversely, sometimes Special Forces troops were assigned to Special Operations units; these individuals were referred to as "specters" by other SpecForce personnel.

Drake IvaldiCodename: Revenant

Drake Ivaldi
Codename: Revenant
A Major in the former Republic military, Special Ops division, Drake foresaw the doom threatening to suffocate the galaxy. He gathered those who were loyal to him. Most of them had served the Republic for years. When the time came, all of them put in for early retirement and were granted them for their service, which included full pensions that they collectively squirreled away and put towards the formation of the group, though it wasn't fully formed until a bit later. His true name is not a matter of public record. His death faked, that person no longer exists.

Ian ThashinCodename: Gamble

Ian Thashin
Codename: Gamble

Ian served under Drake's command in the Republic military. His codename of Gamble was earned, but he paid he a steep and heavy price for it. Ian's gambling problems started in his early teen years and only became more expensive as time went on. In deep with a bookie, he was "killed" at sea when his boat was sabotaged and capsized during a violent storm. His wife of fifteen years had left him and filed for divorce two years prior to his "death".

Darik LysscolCodename: Spook
Darik Lysscol
Codename: Spook

Darik's death came after suffering a long bout of lung disease. He died peacefully in his sleep. Or so the obituary claimed, as did those involved in aiding in the falsified demise. Afraid of a serious relationship, Darik never settled down. He enjoyed the casual lifestyle where members of the opposite sex were concerned. It was once rumored that he had been responsible for the spawning of an illegitimate child, but DNA testing cleared him of the accusation - and the financial burden associated with being a parent. He joined the Republic military when he was in his mid twenties, and found himself under the command of Drake Ivaldi. When he was approached by Drake, he swore his allegiance to the man and everything that the growing Mecrosa Order would stand for.

Vlad KruvchekCodename: Sanguine
Vlad Kruvchek
Codename: Sanguine

Vlad is the cold-hearted man of the group. Prone to violent, uncontrolled outbursts that began at the age of eight, Vlad's childhood and teen years weren't the best. An abusive step-father who was an undiagnosed schizophrenic/manic depressive, the man would unleash his abnormal behaviors upon the boy he didn't biologically father. His mother, suffering from deep depression, turned to alcohol to soften and deaden the pain that plagued her mentally each and every day. Vlad did time for murder, but because he was still a juvenile when the crime was committed, he eventually released and placed on strict probation after serving seven years. Probation demanded he join the Republic military, where he was shaped into a soldier.

Sam Cal-DelmontCodename: Vapor
Sam Cal-Delmont
Codename: Vapor

Sam is the baby of the bunch. His "death" was reported as one of the most horrific accidents to occur on the swoop circuit in nearly two decades. Which suited him perfectly. A need for speed, to the point of it being an addiction. His life was spent on the circuit until he was forced to abandon his hobby and join the military by his overly strict father. A boozer, womanizer, and all around playboy, Sam was on the fast-track to nowhere. The military turned him around. Well, mostly. He's still quite the playboy and a bit of a boozer, but not nearly as bad as he once was.

Stefan FaerberCodename: Specter
Stefan Faerber
Codename: Specter

Calm and collected under pressure. If anything, tough situations make him operate better than during calm times. Rather quiet and reserved around strangers, though does have tendency to help those he assumes to be in trouble. His involvement within the Mecrosa Order when he had met Drake Ivaldi at the Republic Military Academy. Their ways parted soon after, but their paths crossed again years later on Nar Shaddaa. His skills as a sniper are second to none and thus Stefan proved to be a valuable asset to the Order.

RacketCodename: Racket
Racket
Codename: Racket

Racket was brought into the Mecrosa Order by Stefan about a year to a year and a half ago. His tactical skills are second to none and he's not too bad with a computer, either. Racket holds Stefan in high regards even though he doesn't understand - or, more importantly - always agree with Stefan's methods. Racket sports a pendant containing a pearl from a Krayt Dragon, a creature native to Tatooine. With no knowledge of his lineage, the pearl was said to have belonged to his biological mother, rumored to have once been a member of the former Jedi Order.

NeebleCodename: Neeble
Neeble
Codename: Neeble

Quirky is an understatement where Neeble is concerned. Though a brilliant computer geek, he stumbles over his own tongue when a beautiful woman enters the scene. Originally hailing from Nar Shaddaa, Neeble's connection to Stefan goes way back. An original contact who eventually joined the Mecrosa Order - maintaining loyal ties to both the Order and to Stefan. Since encountering one Dia Shak, Neeble has developed an odd infatuation with Twi'leks. The cafe junkie is quite high strung. Stefan has come to believe that Neeble's addiction to cafe will be the death of the likable Neeble.

PincerCodename: Pincer
Pincer
Codename: Pincer

Pincer was brought in by Drake Ivaldi, a.k.a Revenant. An excellent shot, Pincer's skills as a sniper have proven to be quite an asset to the Mecrosa Order. Pincer is also an explosives expert. Known as the quiet and reserved one, Pincer can loosen up and joke around during down time. An oddity for Pincer, to which he receives much ribbing for, is his collection of interior decorating magazines. Despite his gruff appearance and stoically cold expression, Pincer harbors a real soft spot for children.

A product of Nar Shaddaa's tough streets, her induction into Stefan's group was purely accidental. She was in the wrong place at the wrong time. A witness to a potentially deadly stand-off between the Mecrosa Order and The Exchange, the woman ended up having to bargain for her life when faced with execution. Using information about The Exchange she acquired through not-so-legal means, she was given protection and a place to lay her head by Stefan and his men. Over time she became an unofficial member of the Mecrosa Order.

Mav FerranCodename:

Mav Ferran
Codename:
Just a few months out of Republic boot camp, Mav Ferran joined the Mecrosa Order when his skills and training in espionage came to Drake's attention. Mav possesses a unique ability that does not come naturally to many. He can blend in to any crowd with ease. He's able to charm his way into the most secured places and can work people without their ever realizing it.

mecrosa_restrictions.jpg

Due to the nature of the Mecrosa Order's operations, any man who is recruited into the brotherhood cannot have any emotional entanglements. No married men, no steady girlfriends, no children.

Women, also, are not allowed to enter the Order and are to never be recruited.

The Mecrosa Order is restricted to human males only. Alien species, including humanoids, are strictly prohibited from becoming either inducted or recruited into the ranks.

Upon agreeing to the terms and conditions of the Mecrosa Order, the recruit must take the necessary steps in erasing their identity. This includes faking their own death, establishing a new alias by which to be known by in public and must severe all ties to anything related to their former life.

Under any circumstance, the member is never allowed to speak of the Order. Identities are never to be revealed. For all intents and purposes - the Mecrosa Order, their operations, all members, etc -- do not exist.

Every member of the Mecrosa Order must have the Order's symbol tattooed on the underside of their left wrist. This symbol, not known to those outside of the Order, identifies the members to each other. This is particularly useful during covert ops or rescue operations. (The symbol is the image shown in the banner).

  • The Mecrosa Order isn't known throughout the Evolution galaxy. In fact, 99.99% of the galaxy is completely unaware of the Orders existence. The names of the men within the Order are not their birth names. Instead, they are the identities they chose to assume in order to 'disappear'.
  • Republic military records on these men will include a death certificate. For all intents and purposes, these men do not exist. Even during their military careers served in the Republic Military, they never existed.
  • Though there are three semi-open slots that allow an Evolutionary to create a character that is a member of the Mecrosa Order, these remaining slots are not available without having received prior consent from the Order's creators - Mydnyte Syn and Ethan Erat.
  • Very, very, very few existing characters of Evolution would have ever served with any of these men. No new characters have any associations with or tie-ins to the men or the Order itself.
  • The Mecrosa Order is its own organization and is not allied with any faction, business, or organization. They decide if and when to strike against the Empire. They work on their own and for their own goals.
  • There is no public information about the Order nor will it be found in any history.
